Frequently Asked Questions

Who can hire an attorney on Hire an Esquire?

Law firms, in-house legal departments, and attorneys. We work with law firms of all sizes, from boutique/small firms to large Am Law 50-200 Firms to corporate departments. To hire on our platform, an attorney or legal team must oversee any legal professionals contracted from Hire an Esquire's platform. It's not for individuals who need a lawyer or paralegal.

Which plan is right for me?

It depends on how many candidates you're looking for and whether you want to use our proprietary assessment tools. To seek legal candidates for open positions or post projects only, we recommend the Essential, Recruiter, or Corporate plans. To get full access to our suite of assessment tools to use for your own recruiting, we recommend the Enterprise plan. Contact Sales if you have any questions.

Can I change my plan?

Sure. You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your plan any time by contacting Sales.

Can I hire an attorney as an employee after working with the attorney on a project?

Absolutely. We work with you to set up an arrangement that works for everyone and complies with our Terms of Service. Many of our temporary hires turn into permanent ones!

How do I know whether I should classify a hire as a 1099 contractor or W-2 employee?

Classification depends on various factors of the engagement and we recommend that you examine federal, state, and local guidelines for proper employee vs. independent contractor classification. The IRS provides additional resources for classifying workers here. Please consult your legal counsel or accountant for more information regarding proper classification of employees

How do I manage billing?
